SAFE 4.0 FRAMEWORK

Scrum is the most commonly used agile approach in software development. The reason for this is that it can be understood quickly and can deliver results in a relatively short space of time. Many organizations have already opted for the Scrum approach; however, they see problems arising between the agile teams and the rest of the organization that still works in a traditional way. The challenge is to get the various teams to work together productively in order to create a complete chain that is focused on adding value. SAFe® (Scaled Agile Framework) was set up to achieve this.

SAFe 4.0 framework

The SAFe 4.0 framework is built on principles taken from Lean and Agile, and it focuses on medium-sized to large enterprises. In addition to the team, program and portfolio levels, particular attention is paid to the Value Stream level. By applying the framework correctly, organizations can be more efficient and maneuverable, making them more successful.

Why this SAFe for Teams training?

The SAFe for Teams training course tackles Scrum, XP and Lean practices that are focused on agile teams within medium and large organizations. All roles and responsibilities that SAFe 4.0 offers are addressed, along with the software engineering practices for upscaling Scrum.

What you will learn

• The SAFe framework, Lean principles and the related Agile processes.
• Team structure: efficient agile teams, the updated roles of Scrum Master and Product Owner. Within SAFe the scrum teams, Scrum Master and Product Owner have additional tasks and responsibilities, as well as new challenges.
• Designing backlogs: writing user stories and other backlog items, determining the size of the stories and prioritizing backlog items. Writing acceptance criteria for team backlogs is part of the enterprise backlog model at the program and portfolio level within the SAFe framework.
• Sprints: planning the Program Increment, sprint backlog refinement, tracking and tracing progress, the various demos of SAFe and continuously improving the Release Train. Within the SAFe framework, agile ceremonies and events are carried out at the team and program level.
• Agile technical best practices: strategies to prevent waterfall principles within a sprint, TDD, ATTD, automated testing and the continual integration of systems.
• Launching an Agile Release Train (ART): preparing for the first Release Planning meeting at program level.

This SAFe for Teams training course is suitable for Release Train Engineers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, software developers, project leaders, designers, testers and others who are directly involved in software development.

Prerequisites

To participate in this SAFe for Teams training course, some knowledge of agile working and a degree of experience in software development are an advantage. Good preparation is to follow the Agile Scrum Foundation training course.

SAFe for Teams certification

Having completed the training course, each participant has the opportunity to take the SAFe Practitioner (SP) exam. You take this online exam via the Scaled Agile exam institute in a place of your choosing (the sole stipulation being that you do so within 10 days of completing the training course). Successful participants will be awarded the SAFe Practitioner (SP) certificate.
